Guess who turned 4???? Mommy's little Big Boy Jarrett.
So we decided to take a trip to New Orlean's for Ashley's cheer competition and have a swimming party for Jarrett.Jarrett enjoying the ride.....

Jarrett sharing his cookies with Ashley. Instead of eating out on the road I packed everyone a sack lunch and we had a picnic in the car. Jarrett really seemed to enjoy this. He doesn't get to eat sack lunches yet at his school b/c they don't take his age on field trips.
Jarrett isn't quite tall enough to see the water over the Ponchitrain Bridge so big sis helped little brother see the water and swamp. The kids were amazed that people live in houses in the middle of the swamp and use boats to get places. They'd hollar out everytime they saw a house in the water. (Oh.... As you can see he still had his seatbelt on.)
We did get a little lost in New Orleans and got to pass over this big bridge. Jarrett didn't mind though. He loves bridges!!!!
When we found parking we walked to the French Quarter and watched the street performers. They were awesome!!!
They even break danced on their head.
Jarrett even tried to breadk dance while we were there. I wish I would have gotten a picture of that, but he was kicking the guy next to him so I had to stop him.
Then we got balloon animals and painted our names on a painting by the cathedral. Guess which picture they wanted to paint on????? Oh yeah you can already see it.
Jarrett had a blast. Of course he can't write his name yet, but he loved putting his mark on it.
Does anyone notice the chocolate ice cream on his face, clothes, and hair?????? Yeah we stopped for ice cream on the way out of the french quarter. I think he is wearing more than he ate. He still was a cutie though. He loves these luggage carts. Can't you tell?
Next we ordered pizza and had a birthday party. We stopped and got him a choc. cake with dump trucks on it on the way back to our hotel and Ashley went down to the coffee bar in the lobby and brought back spoons and plates.

Next he opened his gifts which were: an 18-wheeler with a tractor on it, a hot wheel 18-wheeler with a car that drives inside the back of it, and a Casey Kaine (spp?) #9 large race car.

After gifts we went or should I say hopped (Jarrett was super excited) all the way downstairs to the pool.
He is afraid of big pools so he played in the ice cold hot tub, which the kids had turned into a kiddie pool, for a couple of hours. Then finally he noticed that we wouldn't grab him if he played on the steps so that is what he did.
He did fall in once, but I was standing right beside him so he was ok. Beleive me my eyes are never off of him b/c he is so full of energy.
We swam for several hours in the very nice heated pool adn then we headed up stairs to settle in for the night. Here's Jarrett's bed..... the couch. I offered for him to sleep with my hubby and myself, but he likes his own space. He ended up on the floor in his sleeping bag before the night was over b/c he was so restless. You would have thought we had a newborn all over again. My hubby and myself didn't get any sleep b/c he wouldn't sleep. He still doesn't totally sleep through the night.

Here is Jarrett hitching a ride with Dad. He even helped Dad load up the luggage. Awwww He really is growing up.
Next.......... Cheer. Yeah Cheer.
I think the next competition I am going by myself. No one seems to like sitting for 8 hours watching cheering and they make it known to me. Yeah Brooke even got bored. I brought a DVD player, her Nintendo DS, Jarrett's race car, Sudoku- for me, and a notebook for drawing and they still made it a long day.
Ashley's team placed 2nd. The youth team & senior squads both placed 1st.

Like the way I did her make-up. Obvious some of the Mom's do. I had to do someone elses make-up last competition and one girl's this one. Ashley had trouble getting it off and one of her friends had to wear hers to school b/c she couldn't get it off.
We ate at the Golden Coral (spp?) b/c that is where the Birthday Boy wanted to eat. He ate several helpings of what he calls cowboy beans (BBQ beans). He also enjoyed an ice cream cone which we ate sitting at the table b/c I still haven't had a chance to clean all of the chocolate off my car door and his car seat. Oh and guess when I found the baby wipes?..... When we were about 2 hours from home. When did we need them?......... The whole trip.

On the way home we found an awesome radio station which we jammed to the whole way home. This is them jamming to the "I wanna Rock..... Rock" song. Jarrett is the guitar, Ashley is the drums and.........

Did you notice the blanket in the picture Mom? Yes he is still attached. Hopefully Ly waits a couple more years for kids so I won't have to take it from him right away. (It is a family blanket that was used with myself, my brother, my little sister, Ashley, Brooke, & now Jarrett and he's been the only kids to become permanently attached. I hope it gets passed to him for his kids many many moons away.

I would love to take the kids to the Insectarium, and the Aquarium. We didn't this time b/c we were focused on swimming. The kids had a blast. Hubby even had a good time. Brooke now wants a swimming party for her January birthday. I might rent a room at a hotel in town with an indoor pool and let her party on with friends. We'll see. She really likes skating too.
